Can you love Tokyo without hating your own city?

I enjoyed this linked article ... but it's interesting that he focused so much on street fashion, it seemed a bit overblown to me. There are a million things I love about Tokyo but as a whole I think that people-watching is better in New York. People seem much more conformist in their style there and for every great look in Tokyo you see 10,000 Office Ladies in beige plaid skirts with a tan sweater; unstylish people are carefully dull in Tokyo instead of exuberantly ugly a la New York.

“Unstylish people are carefully dull in Tokyo instead of exuberantly ugly a la New York.” Ha! I laughed out loud when I read that! Speaking of exuberantly ugly New Yorkers, I should be finished with jury duty in the next few days.
